Book Review -Centaur of the Crime -Michael Angel

I’ve seen this book series for a while and it’s intrigued me, so I decided it was time to check it out. I started with the first book in the series because I wasn’t sure if I’d like it not.

The series interested because it has fantasy characters and a crime investigation. From the blurb and the picture, I thought it’d be Urban Fantasy where our world has fantasy creatures. However, it was a cross-over fantasy. The main character does work crime scenes but when a different realm needs her services, she’s pulled in to solve the case.

Overall, I really liked the story and the characters. They were a fun team and each character had it’s own personality. The story was procedural as the main character and her menagerie worked through the clues. It had a very who dun’ it or cozy mystery feel to it. The only thing I wasn’t fully satisfied with was the pacing. It did feel a bit slow at times which made it easy to put the book down. However, the story is interesting and the plot is well developed so my natural curiosity about the outcome encouraged me to continue.

I do think I’ll read more in the series though I’m not a huge fan of a crime investigation style so it might be a while before I get the next book. But it’s definitely made my ‘to be read’ pile.

Do you like crime fiction? Or cozy mysteries?
